Avengers

Fandom wise I’ve been possessed by Marvel.

I can’t wait for Avengers to be available already. I stalk the sites for pictures and interviews ~blush~ I don’t know why it hit me so hard. Maybe because [info]javiera has been shoving Marvel down my throat urging me to update my know-how for a couple of years,  with House of M, Civil War ~sobs~ and Young Avengers. Since now it’s easier somewhat.

I deeply enjoyed Thor and Captain America, I found both movies superb: fun and well narrated. Though it took my mother to point out that Thor was George Kirk. Damn. I knew that guy was god’s gift to fans back then when I watched Star Trek 2009.

Well, Chris Hemsworth has the laughter, that’s more than half the character.

I also love Thror Soundtrack, I admit I have a thing for Patrick Doyle (his OST of Harry Potter is the only one I like) the other day I was randomly listening to my Loki playlist (It rocks) And there was this sad little melody I was “what‘s this, so pretty”… It was “Letting Go“ I died.

I guess the movie did his job in presenting Thor’s point of view and set us up for a world of hurt with Avengers. Because we undestand Loki's hurt and his way to madness. We now get why it’s so difficult for Thor to fight his brother. All new Loki’s Fans: we are in for it now.

Moreover, reading a Bio of Thor I realized somewhere in the past I read those first comics. I knew Donal Blake, I knew he had a bad leg and I knew there was some confusion because he thought he was human, only he had amnesia from being exiled. Granpa, uncles: you are suspect of facilitating this girl with highly addictive material. I was like ten! Evil people.

But.

I’m in love with Ironman.  _________

Since I watched the animation, ending after a series of screw ups by Tony, only it was Jarvis impersonating him because Tony was frozen for health reasons. Left me in a cliffhanger, damn them all. Shakes fist

I love his humanity. That he is basically trying to mend his mistakes.

He believes, he tries, he takes the scorn and the hits. He is not a bad guy, he is not trying to hurt others (unless he IS being MEAN) He just makes mistakes, real, honest, human mistakes. Which, can be monumental because Tony is never one for half hearted attempts (fan, remember?)

My beloved idiot genius .

And I really loved the movies, even though people tell me they weren’t that good ~shrugs~ I had a lot of fun and re-watch them regularly. Guess fanatism shines through. It adds to the recipe that I love Robert Downey Jr:  when I heard he was going to be Tony Stark I was all “Oh! It’s him! He so totally is!”

Also, Iwas really glad they gave him the opportunity of shining again and overcome his troubles.

Yes, me and the bad boys again.

What I liked the most both in Iron Man and Captain America was the homage to the original comics (see Iron man first armor for references) and the fact that Captain America was born as an incentive for men to enlist during WWII (which [info]javierapointed out to me, what I knew about Cap before was that he existed)

Also in Captain they captured really well the atmosphere of the time, the dancers etc. Like a serious movie about the war I guess all this batch of Marvel movies have that in common. They take themselves seriously.

I mean good god, that’s Anthony Hopkins as Odin! That’s just epic.

So now I’m in agony~~  Waitiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing. Calendar! Be May already!

Note to Self: Stop blaming [info]javiera, I was weird long before we met.

So I guess I own you a report:

Last year around September I took an English course, mostly so I’d have proof of my knowledge and to practice and level up my talking, put it in my resume as it were. In January I took a culture class with a friend at the Japanese-Chilean institute (she gave it to me as a B-Day present! Die of envy!) It was Arts, Yokai (supernatural beings), History and Literature. I had a blast.

Later I took some Japanese language free class that they offered, it's pretty interesting and it’s possible I take more classes in the future.

That’s it. The last months of my life in a nutshell.

It's a comeback tour promoting the new single “Jade” by X Japan | MTV IGGY hence the concert did not play all the greatest songs, but then  Yoshiki, very moved, said it all when they played/we sang Forever Love: "This song wasn't on the set list ".

Bet you they didn't think we knew  them so well. I still remember dancing/jumping aound to their 10 minutes long songs on the  now legendary party at Casa Rotaria or Blondie discotheque. It was like a rite of passage!

And they kept thanking us! It's the other way around:

Thank you! You Came! Here! To us! I still can't believe it.

I'll be daring and ask for more, and when you come back I'll be there because.

WE ARE X!!!

Shounen- ai Manga rec

Koori no Mamono no Monogatari
"The Ice-Cold Demon's Tale"
By Sugiura Shiho
(shounen-ai)

This is my ideal manga, a fantasy work with tall long haired bishounen, thin and angular lines, smooth and not overly baroque design and a story where the feelings and self discovery of the characters are more important than the flashy magic. How to put it? The settings of the story are beautiful, a place where the magic is somewhat a normal occurrence and normal people live surrounded by great powers and old tales just spring up from the grass (Am I quoting The Lord of the Rings?) I has a very nostalgic feeling to it.

Long ago before the big boom of scanlation a compassionate soul scanned and translated the main story of Rapunzel (which is  a secondary character here) and I fell in love. Later probably looking for more references to it I found this page a summary by Amparo Bertram detailing every volume of the series. With pictures. Although I do think at first it was more general, I don't recall very well it was over ten years ago.

Then last year I was getting the latest scanlations I found out Storm in Heaven had taken the project after it was dropped by Essence of Purity. O.o You will understand my shock, won't you?

I thought that this manga was like a warm breeze, nice and cute because of the slow beginning even through I had read the summaries and knew how complex the story was, it still blindsided me.

Volume five just broke my heart. Blood's pain just echoed into me, so visceral and raw. So I set to make some fan art  to try and capture the feeling portrayed and the beautiful simplicity of the authors art. Big image ahead )

All's Chaos On The Eastern Front Fanart

Here be the fic All's Chaos On The Eastern Front By [info]peroxide_fic

Ok This is the funniest thing that I read in a while, It just fitted the plotline of Supernatural with NEWS story down to the last detail. I tried to make a text file with quotes so I could use them in icons or whatever, it didn't work I copy&pasted everything! It's full of cute moments and some very ouch ones specially the parts with past members.A big plus, It has Castiel on it (banner in the works) how cute was that? Pi's pout and Cas Puppy Eyes you are doomed Zacharias!

When I finished this story I felt sorry for fans of SPN that don't know NEWS and for NEWS fans that don't watch SPN, people you just lost the oportunity of reading a great fic.

Here be the Art:

I tried to use pictures related to the time frame in the chapters but Pi pout was just perfect  for the first chapter.

The banner is in two version:

Light Blue. Based mostly on the first chapter, you know when Jhonny goes: "I will call you P" I always picture Yamapi' look. The line up is the scene at the old house where Shige's "I call shenanigans" made me smile really big  I could just picture them all hanging from each other and screaming their heads off.

Hot pink, very japanese in my opinion. Also if you have viewing troubles with the previous one this shoud give you an option.

All's Chaos on the Eastern Front

The icons are just companions, maybe in the future I'll make more I do have News icons that I haven't posted yet.

 See through banner   Solid banner

Would you believe me I noticed the lack of Tegoshi after it was done? I'll make you one, please forgive me!

And Pi from the banner. The blue thing is a feather by the way.

There's more in the workshop, please be patient.

Bye Bye Prince/ss Utena Saionji

How come I always leave this journal on its own?
Same excuse no home connexion, I'm typing this from my big sister home.

My net life has surely suffered, not only that but the image manipulation and the fanart that I used to do reduced to almost nothing. My old screen reached levels of colors only an antiquary could have decoded, it frustrated me so much that I just let it be.

Which is why one of the first things I did when I purchased my new PC was to finish the fanart in the last post. I just wanted it done.

And then I got myself in other ones. Why me?
I'll apply myself. Have two about done I mean a banner and a wallpaper and that's all I'm saying until they are actually done.

Presents for [info]tabai)!

Because the fic rules and I hope everyone enjoy it as much as I do.

The Love That Chases

I don't read that much about this fandom, due to my preference for long stories. I also follow very marked pairings, not good considering the small amount of material there is to begin with.

But this one captured my attention on the very first chapter, god did I suffer waiting for updates! More over because of the inherent melancholy on each chapter. What's more important it captures those feelings proper of  teenagers: not fitting in or wanting things that are so out of your reach. You know, when there is something that rules your life and there's nothing more important (remember teenager: drama queen in disguise)

This made me cry. And smile a lot

Plus points for following the convolated story that's NEWS, with the members and the suspension (I swear [info]javiera sat me down and explained before showing me the concert that made me fall) If you need an intro to the fandom check this. Hey, It's no different than reading The Sentinel stuff! I never watched it but I so read about it.

I went to the movies!!! I won a ticket to the avant-premiere, a group prize at work .

The Greenzone with Matt Damon and Jason Isaac. Same director of The Bourne Supremacy and it shows: the color, the grain of the photography and the hand held camera movement. God does it move, it's really good for the movie, very fast paced, as you follow his lead in the story in exchange the premise is not overly complicated.

Jason looks really good in that get up (I like uniforms, sue me!)

I enjoyed myself.
